[ THANK YOU ]

As a few of my lovely clients already know I have stepped away from the ironing board for a few days to do something I have always wanted to do, but I will let you know more about that in the coming days.

For now I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you to these three handsome fellows that have made my little adventure possible, thank you for encouraging me to go and for stepping in to fill my mum and ironing lady shoes while I am gone ❤️

I also wanted to say a big thank you to my lovely clients who have been so accommodating of me taking a couple of days off. Thank you for allowing me to juggle your ironing days around to make this all happen and for appreciating that sometimes we all just need to go and have an adventure.

So I am about to head out to dinner at Augello’s Mooloolaba to start my carb loading 🍕

So where have I been and what have I been up to on my little adventure.

Well yesterday I walked and walked and walked 26.6km to be exact from Caloundra to Mooloolaba and to be honest I loved every minute 😍 I have always wanted to experience a walking holiday and when an opportunity with Sunshine Coast Adventures and Wild Spirit Adventures popped up to walk from Bells Creek Caloundra to Noosa a total of 83km (yes you read that right 😳) guided by an old friend I haven’t seen for over 10 years I jumped at the opportunity.

And who better to trek this adventure with then my dear friend Kim Prichard who has supported me every step of the way establishing and launching STEAM and through all stages of my life for many many years before that. Kim I am so blessed to have you in my life, thank you for embarking on this adventure with me.

So today we set off again for another 27km from Mooloolaba to Peregian. Wish me luck putting on my joggers which are still a little smelly from yesterday 🙄 as I head off again to explore this amazing coastline we are fortunate enough to have in our beautiful state.

[ ADVENTURE DAY 2 ]

Day 2 Done & Dusted

After a couple of wines and dinner at the The Surf Club Mooloolaba last night this little chicken was in bed ready for a good nights sleep to be fresh and rested to go for day 2 of walking, walking and more walking with Sunshine Coast Adventures & Wild Spirit Adventures

We started our day with a super yummy breakfast at Melody’s Licensed Cafe before being dropped off at the Mooloolaba Spit to continue on our way. Our day was filled with beautiful coastal scenery and a lovely long stroll along North Shore Beach with a tail wind, which was most certainly appreciated after yesterdays head wind, before continuing our walk along the coastal path and boardwalk to Coolum, a total of 27.5km

Today we did meet a couple of unwelcome scaly companions along the way 😳 not as scary as the snake we encountered yesterday but still I don’t fancy being friends with lizards, I much prefer my animal friends to be fury, domesticated and obedient.

We finished the afternoon off with a well deserved ice-cream and a soak in the spa ❤️

Muscle Update – I have had a few people ask how my legs and feet are holding up and all in all I think I am doing really well, for someone who has never done anything like this before I feel like the old body is doing well. Yes my feet and legs are a little sore at the end of the day and I have a small blister on my toe but nothing worth complaining about or stopping me from looking forward to continuing our adventure tomorrow 😀

[ ADVENTURE – FINAL DAY ]

I made it !!! Finished, survived, completed, DONE.

When I signed up for this adventure to be honest I really wasn’t sure if I would complete the entire 83 km. I knew I would give it my best shot but would I actually arrive in Noosa on foot having walked the entire way, I had no idea 🤷‍♀️

The final day of our adventure was most certainly the hardest, the day was hotter, less wind, lots of stairs, a few small headlands and I had a dreaded blister 🙄. But OMG the scenery was spectacular, what an amazing country we live in. The water is sooooo clear and the shades of blue as the depth travels out to sea is just stunning.

After living on the Sunshine Coast for 10 years many many years ago and having spent holidays here a million times I didn’t realise how much of the coastline and beaches I had actually never taken the time to enjoy and explore. Our destinations here on the coast had always been determined by the size of the surf so the boys could catch the best waves and I could catch 5 minutes to myself with a book sitting on the sand.

Having had the opportunity to explore the entire coastline on foot has really given me a new appreciation for the many little coastal seaside communities that are hidden amongst the hustle and bustle of the Sunshine Coast as a whole. Sunshine Beach is at the top of my list when I win the lotto, just a beautiful little place with a beautiful feel about it, I could most certainly live there.

Having never done anything like this before and deciding that my weekly walk & talk with Kim Prichard while we walked the dogs and a few years of yoga would see me through I had a few doubts that I was up to it. But this beautiful coastline and what you might see around the next headland plus the friendly banter between the group keeps you going. Pushing past the large brown snake down the path sign 😳🐍 , through Alexandria Bay 😳😳😳 and onto Hells Gate all experiences to add to the memory bank.

But to actually arrive in Noosa knowing that my little feet had carried me the entire way from Calounda and looking back along the coastline of the journey we had just traveled was pretty amazing. These little feet of mine are obviously made for walking 👣👣👣.

Thank you Sunshine Coast Adventures and Wild Spirit Adventures it has been a blast and I am sure my first walking holiday of many😀
